If there's really nothing else you can think to add, this track could also work as a loop.

Eldritchsaxes responds:

Yeah I'll probably do that thanks for the advice

that fucking amazing intro got my attention.
the song hits hard and does not relent. great work!

TSRBand responds:

Thanks! Happy you liked this one :)

This song also works as a soundtrack for a mid-2000 demolition derby/racing game.

Metaljonus responds:

I can see that!

that first and last minute has that old-school hip hop vibe, which i really dig (especially with those stab and vinyl scratch samples)!

the drums from 1:10 till 2:00 was pretty weak imo; i was hoping to hear some breakbeats, but that's just my personal bias speaking

as for the outro, I feel as if it ends to abruptly. maybe give it a few more seconds to let the air out, so to speak?

overall this is a pretty decent track!

carmine3 responds:

I appreciate the feedback! I honestly think the drums could be a bit better too but I was too afraid to take the risk and didn't want to go too overboard with it lol

and I did cut the outro short as well for the same reason, now I realize it came out sounding pretty rushed.. I'll learn from that :d

Anyways, that's that for the track I guess, thanks for listening! :D

oooh, jazz and dnb. haven't heard that combination in a while

can't say much about the piano and synths, since they're perfect as they are

as for the bass, maybe you could use one with a bit more movement (modulation? idr the exact term) as opposed as just a sub bass, for texture [EDIT: for example, a hoover bass]

for the drums, instead of just fills or removing the hi hats/cymbals for transitions, you could strip it down to the snares and/or hats. the choice of samples is great, though.

WolfgangMiakoda responds:

Very fair criticism! I'll definitely take that with me once I get back to finishing this piece! Ironically, I've never been that good at either drums or bass, so a genre that focusses on those two elements specifically has always been challenging for me. I am really happy you enjoyed the piece, though!

hello!

love the atmosphere in this! really reminds me of old school metal, which im assuming is what you're aiming for

my one criticism is the production of the drums. that kick and snare should be a bit louder, with the hi hats and crashes be quieter. maybe even use different samples, since it sounds really weak.

around 2 minutes in (during the second half, especially), i hear some what i think is uneven volume (from strumming or plucking?) with the bass. perhaps some compression would help with that?

the guitars, however, is perfect. really no complains here.

but overall, this is a really nice track! just some issues with the production, which can be fixed.

Banana-head responds:

Thanks for the review! Im very limited on my drum machine sounds, ill try EQing the bass and treble next time and see how it sounds. Im still learning how to mix stuff and honestly the level im at right now is still "i hava no idea of what im doing", but im learning!

Something tells me that's not a piano playing, but rather a Eastern stringed instrument (a koto, perhaps?).

- I really love the mixing in this.
- You could try varying that beat a little. Maybe throw in a cymbal every 2-4 bars or change that kick snare pattern?
- That koto melody gets a bit repetitive. Have another instrument playing something else would fix that.
- I think you should probably add another 30 seconds to this WIP (make it a full minute, basically).

jbarnett responds:

theres piano AND a plucked string synth in there

"Filthy, Filthy Drum and Bass" sounds like a proper for track like this. Reminds me a bit of Broken Note.

- That buzzsaw synth could be a bit quieter. The bit it plays sounds a bit off too.
- I would replace that kick (the one used in the break) with something that sounds a bit deeper.
- Those are some killer breaks, man.

Macca3232 responds:

Thanks for the review, I appreciate it. The gear I used was a pretty sweet set up, but all out of my price range :( Only had 2 days to work with it but I'm happy with how it turned out. The buzzsaw synth your talking about is the only thing I regret with this song and I cant change it now as I lost all my data when I got a new Macbook XD

This song is appropriate for consuming any kind of bread tbh :P Anyway...

This is more suitable to be a loop rather than a song...unless if you're gonna extend this. Another thing is the outro. It's too short, yo.

Also, describe the "raisin bread" genre. This could be the next big thing since big room house.

- That intro is a bit too long.
- The volume could be a bit louder. Particularly for the drums.
- I feel as if this track lacks the lower frequencies. Maybe a sub bass, or a bass would do some good.
- I love those synths. They're very well made.

yeajimmiboi responds:

Thanks mate I'll use this in the next version of the track. thanks for commenting.
